PETG ESD

Professional ESD protection

Spectrum PETG ESD is a high-quality antistatic filament, developed from a proprietary polymer blend to provide long-lasting protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD). Designed for industrial and technical applications where reliability, safety, and precise surface properties matter, this material combines PETG’s mechanical strength, excellent interlayer adhesion, and ease of printing with a unique matte finish, giving prints a professional appearance.

Unlike standard conductive filaments, Spectrum PETG ESD uses a durable, non-migrating antistatic formulation, which effectiveness is independent of ambient humidity. This means the material retains its antistatic and protective properties in both dry and humid industrial conditions, ensuring consistent and safe protection of electronic components throughout its service life.

How Spectrum PETG ESD works

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) occurs when electrical charges accumulate on a surface and discharge suddenly, potentially damaging sensitive electronic circuits. Spectrum PETG ESD effectively prevents such discharges, making 3D prints from this filament safe for use with electronics and measuring equipment.

The filament has a surface resistivity of 10⁷ Ω, placing it in the optimal range for ESD-safe materials — effectively dissipating charge without the risk of sparking. Electrostatic energy is gradually released through low-energy corona discharges, which are harmless and fully safe even without grounding.

Material characteristics

  • Surface resistivity: 10⁷–10⁹ Ω/sq (ESD & EX safety range)
  • Permanent, non-migrating antistatic protection
  • ESD performance independent of ambient humidity
  • Halogen-free, environmentally friendly formulation
  • High stiffness and precise surface quality
  • Easy printing typical of standard PETG
  • Excellent interlayer adhesion and low shrinkage

Applications

  • Housings and covers for electronic devices
  • Mounting elements and tools in ESD-protected zones
  • Measuring, calibration, and service components
  • Prototypes and parts requiring permanent electrostatic protection
