Spectrum Filaments is expanding its product range with two new materials – ABS Medical and PET-G FX120. New materials have been developed for applications in both technology and medicine. The 3D printing of medical components is a complicated matter, and the materials apart from their specific mechanical properties must be biocompatible, which is confirmed by appropriate certificates.
ABS Medical
Material was developed for medical applications. This filament is made of ABS pellets that meet the biocompatibility requirements of USP Class VI or ISO 10 993-1, making 3D prints biocompatible. This makes the material suitable for the 3D printing of lightweight prostheses and the production of auxiliary structures in rehabilitation.
ABS Medical filament is also approved for contact with food according to EU No. 10/20 111 and 21 CFR FDA. At the same time, it is characterized by good mechanical properties. Ready printout can be treated by grinding, polishing, drilling and painting. Additional information:

Filament PET-G FX120
PET-G FX120 is a flexible material specifically designed for technical applications. It is characterized by durability and strength, allowing designers to quickly produce functional parts.
Printed items are characterized by dimensional stability, flexibility and high mechanical strength along with temperature resistance up to 120°C. Due to this fact, the finished elements can be subjected to high-temperature steam sterilization, which allows the material to be used for the manufacture of elements connected to prosthetics, orthoses, car parts or various consumer goods. The material can also be used for:
- elements used as energy adsorbents,
- manufacturing of seals with high chemical resistance,
- manufacturing of end-use parts, production tools,
- functional prototyping.
